Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes

My book is called Sadako And The Thousand Paper Cranes and it’s by: Eleanor Coerr. I like this book because it is sad and really interesting. I also have some questions about this book. Why would the Americans do this to the Japanese citizens? They did not do anything the military did. What is an Altar? I feel bad for Sadako because she is too young to die. This author made us feel sad.

My thinking about this book is sad because she died at the age of 12. Sadako didn’t even get scratched or hurt when the bomb dropped. I feel bad for her because she has to go through all of the suffering such as shots, soar throats and soar gums. I think the author wrote this book because he is probably half Japanese and he is talking about his ancestors that died from the bomb. The author also probably wanted us to feel bad what happened in Hiroshima.

I learned from this time period that it was really hard for Japanese people to survive and go through painful stuff. That time really looked like America had control over Japan.
